A tea with deep historical roots — and still one of the most satisfying everyday green teas when done properly.
Song Luo is considered one of the earliest famous stir-fried green teas in China, often referred to as the ancestor of 炒青绿茶. It was also the first green tea exported through the historic Tunxi trading port.
This year’s batch impressed us with unusually high aroma and durability. Strong 栗香 (roasted chestnut fragrance) rises from the warm leaves alongside a dense 毫香 from the fine spring buds. Compared to many modern delicate green teas, Song Luo has more grip, more roast character, and a comforting old-school structure.
The result is deeply drinkable: nutty, fragrant, slightly savory, and very耐泡 — happily lasting through many brews.
A historic tea that still feels incredibly alive.
