Cha Moods hosts Chinese tea tastings in Amsterdam: Friday tables at Salon 188 on the Singel, and special events and collaborations through the year. We brew tea hot and cold, and pour a full ceremony in the gongfu style.

What happens at a tasting

We brew gongfu style (功夫茶): a high ratio of leaf to water, short steeps and many rounds, so each tea opens up over consecutive infusions. A tasting is a flight of three teas, rare seasonal finds alongside classics, and we talk through origin, craft, aroma, flavour and texture, and the stories behind each tea. It takes about an hour and a half and is made for enthusiasts and newcomers alike. The teas follow the season; this spring the table held Moonlight White Tea, West Lake Long Jing (西湖龙井), Dianhong Golden Tip and Lincang Sheng Pu'er.

Earlier this year

• 27 September 2026: vendor at the Brussels tea festival.
• 25 September 2026: a Mid-Autumn shared table at Salon 188.
• 17–19 September 2026: cold brew tea and a new teaware collaboration at Salon 188 during GLUE Amsterdam.
• 1 May 2026: Early Harvest Tasting, a side-by-side flight of Shifeng and Li Jia Wu Long Jing (龙井) with early Biluochun (碧螺春) and a Biluochun red from the same farm.
• 19 April 2026: Unfurl, a sonic tea gathering at Noordspace in Amsterdam Noord, with a gongfu workshop and live ambient sets.
• 28 March 2026: a seated Funkfest tasting at De Kromme Haring, Utrecht, pouring Fu Zhuan heicha, high-mountain Dancong and Kuzhushan gushu sheng Pu'er.
