Zhuni Pear-Shaped (梨形) Yixing Teapot 100ml

€168,00

This One-of-a-Kind Zhuni Pear-Shaped (梨形) Yixing Teapot embodies classic elegance and the artisanal expertise of Yixing clay craftsmanship. Known as a "Mengchen Pot," this pear-shaped design has become a symbol of precision and quality in Chinese teaware, with its roots traced back to Master Hui Mengchen, whose small, refined teapots gained great popularity, especially in Japan.

Crafted from rare zhuni clay, this teapot features a distinctive three-bend spout and a gracefully curved handle. Zhuni clay, known for its low sand content and delicate nature, makes this teapot challenging to form, with a production success rate of only around 70% due to the high shrinkage during firing. The result is a teapot with high density and fine crystallization, perfect for enhancing the taste and aroma of your tea. With use, the zhuni clay develops a striking red sheen, deepening over time—a beautiful companion for any tea lover’s journey.

Comes with Artist signature and certificate.

We present here a half-handmade collection of Zisha Purple Clay teapots, teacups from Yixing. Each piece is one of its kind and handmade by local ceramic artists in Yixing.

Yixing pots are traditionally made from Zisha (‘purple sand’), a natural clay known for its porous nature and excellent heat retention properties.

The beauty of a Yixing pot lies in its simplicity and functionality. Each pot is often handcrafted, ensuring that no two pots are exactly alike. This individuality is further enhanced over time, as the porous clay absorbs the flavors and aromas of the teas brewed within, gradually seasoning the pot.

Ideal for brewing oolong, black, and pu-erh teas, Yixing pots are valued for their ability to enhance the depth and complexity of tea flavors. The clay’s mineral composition interacts gently with the tea, softening and rounding its taste, making every brew a unique experience.

The aesthetic appeal of Yixing pots also lies in their diverse range of styles, shapes, and colors, from classic reds and browns to more modern designs. They are not just functional tools for brewing tea but also works of art, appreciated by tea lovers and collectors alike.

This teapot features filter, holds approximately 120ml of liquid and pours empty in approximately 5 seconds.
