2026 Toucai Huangshan Maofeng

One of China’s most iconic spring green teas — but when made well, Huangshan Maofeng feels less famous and more quietly complete.

This year’s batch stood out immediately for its aroma. Sweet bean, orchid, fresh chestnut and mountain flowers rise quickly from the cup, while the texture stays soft and silky rather than sharp. The buds are slender and covered in fine hairs, giving the tea a calm sweetness that lingers long after drinking.

From Cha Lin Chang — a Shanghai farming collective in the Huangshan mountains — first pick on 25 April 2026. Local heirloom bushes, finished in the traditional pan-fired style; we chose the lot for its balance of aroma, clean structure, and depth across a session.

Quiet mountain Maofeng — slower drinking suits it.

Grootte:

Elegant and quietly sweet, this Huangshan Maofeng is picked early spring from the cool, misty slopes of Shexian in the Yellow Mountain region. Thanks to the 烘青 (baked green) process, it develops a soft, soothing aroma—think wildflowers, toasted grain, and hints of chestnut.
Brewed light, the liquor is clear and smooth, with a mellow sweetness and gentle floral linger. A refined green tea that rewards both focused tasting and everyday drinking.
