2026 First Flush Hand-Roasted Taiping Houkui

Long leaves, bamboo basket pressing, unmistakable shape — but this year, the aroma is what made us stop.

An especially fragrant batch of Taiping Houkui with intense 兰花香 (orchid aroma) that lifts out of the cup immediately. Made from early-picked Quntizhong material, the tea carries both the airy floral quality Houkui is loved for and a deeper sweetness underneath.

The liquor is bright and gentle, with notes of orchid, sugar snap pea, fresh bamboo and soft cream. Despite its delicate appearance, it remains surprisingly durable through multiple infusions.

One of the most aromatic green teas we tasted this spring.

Expect a fresh, vegetal sweetness with a sticky rice-like texture, accented by floral high notes and soft fruity undertones. The long, slow-roasted leaves yield a smooth and lingering umami, perfect for quiet spring mornings.
